By Train: When it comes to trains, Lonavala is well-connected. There are trains passing by from the Pune station in 2-hour intervals. In fact, all trains in-between Mumbai and Pune halt here. It takes an average of one and a half hours to reach Lonavala via trains from either Mumbai or Pune.
By Bus: Lonavala lies on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway with continuous buses. Pre-booking is not necessary.

But if you are the adventurous kind, Lonavala is not a disappointment for you either. Treks to places like Tiger’s Leap will take half-a-day, and if you still have the energy, then you can visit the lakes around.
And if you are a history enthusiast, then the forts are bound to consume a day. Either way, 3 days is plenty to cover-up the hill-station and places around it.
